About Giving Back

Giving Back is the part of Mission Viejo Post that points readers to ways to help: food and toy drives, volunteer openings, and what local nonprofits are doing for the community.

What we cover

Projects and programs in or serving Mission Viejo, with a link to the organization's own page or the city's page so you can sign up or give directly. A mention is not an endorsement, and we do not take payment for one.

How we report

We write about what groups are doing, using the group's own pages, the city's pages and public filings, and we link to the source. When we point to the work with the biggest community impact, we use figures that the groups publish or file publicly, such as meals served, volunteers or dollars raised. Dates, addresses, phone numbers and sign-up links are checked again each time a story runs.

Send us a project

If your group runs a drive, a volunteer program or a fundraiser in Mission Viejo, email hello@missionviejopost.com with the dates, the address and a link to your page. We read every message.

How this paper is made

Every figure, address, date, time and quotation is checked against the public documents before we publish.

Every story is compiled from official agendas, staff reports, meeting summaries and public filings, with a link to the source at the end of each story. Found a mistake? Email hello@missionviejopost.com and we will fix it and say what changed. Read our standards →
