About
Mission Viejo Post is a local news service for the people of Mission Viejo, California. We cover what the City Council decides, which businesses are opening, what is being built, and what is happening around town, working from public records and official sources.
Our sources
We report from primary sources: council and commission agendas, staff reports and minutes, school board records, licensing and permit records, and official public safety, weather, and road notices. Every story links to the document it came from, so you can read the record yourself.
How we check a story
We state only what the record says. Names, dates, addresses, amounts, and votes are checked against the source before a story goes out. Headlines are written to earn your attention and never claim more than the story supports. We do not run press releases as news, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
How we use technology
We use AI tools and software to help draft our stories from public records. Every figure, date, name and link is checked against the source documents before publishing, and we correct mistakes openly.
Privacy
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how readers use the site: which parts of a page get read and where people stop. It records page views and scrolling, not what you type, and we use it only to make the site clearer. Your email address is used to send you the edition and for nothing else. We do not sell or share reader data.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, write to hello@missionviejopost.com and we will correct it and say so on the page. Our policy is on the Corrections page.
Funding
Mission Viejo Post is free to read. Local sponsors help pay for it. Sponsors are always labeled, and they have no say in what we publish. They do not see our stories before they publish, and any story that names a current sponsor is held for a person to read before it goes out. Who owns and runs Mission Viejo Post is on the Ownership page.
