Need community service hours in Mission Viejo? Where students and residents can ask
Students and residents who need community service hours for school or youth programs have a few places to ask in Mission Viejo, all listed on city pages.
Public Services. The city's Public Services department invites students and residents to contact it for volunteer work that benefits the community. Projects may include trash pick-up in parks, trails and community centers, plant material installation, painting and event set-up. The page asks people to call 949-470-3064 to inquire about available opportunities.
Library. Students in grades 6 to 12 can earn service credit through the Teen Voice Blog, at 1 hour per post, or drop in to the Teen Volunteer Club, which needs no application, registration or training. Details and contacts are in the library volunteer story.
Recreation and Community Services. Volunteers must be at least 15 and have an email account they check often. Contact 949-470-3061 or RCS@cityofmissionviejo.org.
Court-ordered hours. Check before you sign up. The library says it does not accept court-ordered volunteers, and the Recreation and Community Services department lists not volunteering for court-mandated reasons as a qualification.
